Did anyone even see this coming? What do you think?

I've always liked Paul Lo Duca. Seems like a great clubhouse presence, a team leader and can be a great clutch hitter... assuming he stays healthy.

I'm happy with it.

i dont think anyone saw this comming, i dont think its a awful move but i dont think its a good one. I think i get what omar is doing here, trying to get some tough character guys on this team, but the bottom line is that molina and hernandez are better players and we wouldnt of had to give anything up for. Its a ok move, but id rather not have to give up another prospect and have the younger and more skilled molina or hernandez

I definitely didn't see this coming and hated the idea when I first heard about the trade but I am warming up to it. When you look closely at the three catchers there isn't much that seperates them except age. Supposedly neither were interested in the Mets initial offer of 3/$21M, both wanting a 4th year. In the case I'm fine with Lo Duca and Castro.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Unlike most on these forums, I don't mind it much. I even like it a little. And I'm not one of those who blindly supports all the Mets moves, I actually do not like a fair amount. This offseason has been decent though, I really haven't minded any of the moves.

I think the bigger deal is that LoDuca is only 2 years. The Mets cathing position is hopefully not going to be required to carry the load offensively, so LoDuca offers more flexibility both now and in the future.

Yeah I was kind of against it at first because I wanted a better defensive catcher but I warming up to it also due to the contract and good clubhouse presensce he is. This team definetly needs some leaders.

Did you see Alan Nero's (Molina's agent) comments today? What an idiot. The Mets offered both Molina and Hernandez 3/$24M. Arguably that's too much money to begin with and neither took it. The more details that come up the more I understand Omar's thinking.
