Hmm. Your estimation would be off. The Mets are at ~$90M right now. If they were to swap those two salaries they'd still be at ~$90M.

EDIT: Correction. It's more like $95M with Lo Duca.

Well, at least most of Minaya's moves have been somewhat long-term, or mid-term I guess. This is for sure a short-term acqusition and an expensive 1 at that. I just think it is short sighted. Maybe this will enable them to get rid of Matsui by taking on Kent's contact but there are far better 2nd base options out there. What happened to getting Soriano?

How is Soriano far better than Kent? He's younger and faster, and that's where I run out of ideas.

Well, see, Soriano is actually a worse player than Kent. He's worse defensively (although Kent is no Gold Glover) and he's worse offensively (have you seen Sori's away splits? ). Kent is a better option and he (probably) won't cost an arm and a leg because I'm guessing LA is trying to dump some salary after the Furcal signing.
