Jeff Kent to The Mets .. Close

Postby L0rdB23 » Sun Dec 04, 2005 6:56 pm

"The Mets are reportedly close on a deal that would bring Jeff Kent into the fold. Might be on hold until the winter meetings but very close to finished. No details on what they are dealing but it is something that has been worked on and actually got the Mets to back out of the Furcal chase so LA could finish the deal."

Who would they give up?

Man how's the lineup going to shake out?

Reyes
Beltran
3-4-5-6??? Kent/Delgado/Floyd/Wright???

Does Wright start the year at the end of the order again? Although that lineup will turnover a lot and provide value all the way thru though.

I've always hated the Yanks but now the Mets are turning into the Yanks. Good Luck on winning that division again Braves :-o

He's due for 7 mil in 2005 and 9.4 mil in 2006. Maybe this is why we were discussing clearing Benson's salary... :-? It would still keep the payroll under 90 million which is far from Yankee territory.

Very intriguing, and probably still retroactive to a cost-cutting move. Smart thinking by Minaya if this turns out to be true.

Man, that's a hell of an offense.

Do you notice that MLB Trade Rumors cites a guy named Monte? I frequent the message board where this rumor started! Not to say that the guy doesn't have inside information, he might, but this is just an Internet rumor until proven otherwise. :-D

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I did see that and I agree. The only reason I thought it was credible was because this is also apparently the guy who leaked Bladergroen as the player in the Mientkiewicz deal. I mean, I get the feeling it's not just a guy starting stuff for no reason... Although it's possible.

I hope it's true. I'm having fantasies about a Kaz for Kent swap. :-B
