Wow. Furcal got a lot of $$$. I wanted the Cubs to get Furcal, but not at that price.

The vast unintended campaign by baseball owners to overspend continues. This is ugly.

Bump up J.D. Drew on your cheat sheets, people. He now has a legit person to hit in. Oscar Robles and Antonio Perez don't really qualify in that category.

Agreed...although I'm not sure what direction to go in now. I've got to think we go after either Pierre or Damon. Also maybe even try and trade for someone like Lugo. We'll see how everything shakes out but the Cubs defenitely need atleast one more bat if they want to contend this year IMO.

Bunch of rumors flying around about Kent now. Looks like he's being shopped.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Wow, what a deal for Furcal.
I never really understood why the Dodgers wanted Furcal so badly.
Izturis can put up decent number IMO, and besides him, they already got Joel Guzman.

I don't understand what you mean by "unintended"? Are owners accidentally spending this money? Are they being forced to do it

Horrible deal. Then again, I'm not in love with most of the deals out there so maybe its not so bad.
