I've used the AGP slot but never the PCIE slot. I'm brining the card over to Microcenter or PC Club to see if they can throw it in a board and bring it up. Seems to me the card is dead. When you have dead ram it doesn't detect it just like this. Beeps as if there is nothing there at all.
Yeah, only with RAM, you have a test slot. With this your best bet would be trying it out in a different PC.
Those bastards.
I know nothing worse then getting a new toy that doesn't work then having to send it back then waiting for it to show up again!
I really hope its the PCIE slot cause then I'll just buy a dual PCIE Mobo RMA the old one and put it on ebay.
However, I think its the card even though the fan fires up.
Assuming that the mobo is detecting the PCIE slot my guess is DOA. That sucks. I had it happen to me once and I was like a 5-year old pouting around the house all day.
$60 bucks is ridiculous. A PCI test card will cost you around $80.
Does it make it into Windows or is just hanging during BIOS initialization?
One more thing, PCIe slots have backward-support for PCI. I have you tried sticking a PCI card in there and seeing if you can get it to register. This will at least rule out the slot.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

That's what I was going to say. It sounds like your card is shot to me, but I really have no idea. I just know you couldn't have gone wrong with one of these. Seiously though, I hope you get it all figured out, you sure seemed to be looking forward to it, that's for sure.

I can't get an AGP because they don't make a 7800gt in that.
Anyways I got a store to test it and it is dead! What sucks more is that Newegg is out of stock of the item! woooo kill me now... I'm gonna call new egg and beg them to send me a different card
Ok so I have my new card coming tommorrrow and newegg is gonna refund my card.
My new card is an EVGA version which I hear are better. So thats good.
Anyways I'm the type of person who needs to solve his computer issues ASAP so this is killing me. I still have a sneaking suspicion that the board may be to blame although testing it on a good board didn't work I'm not sure I trust the PC Club nerds
