It's not just the Ryan signing and the fact that they have held on to players..but they are giving off the impression that they are not done. They offered Giles a contract, and it has been all over the radio that the Jays have inquired several times about Overbay.
The latest was a deal involving Batista.
As a Jays fan, I would be optimistic also. I have similar feelings about the Brewers. Even though they may be small steps, at least the steps are forward.
Arod's numbers and jeter's dating habits has got to be more exciting than finishing behind boston and new york year after year after year after year...
blue jays are better but save the champagne for a few years.
It certainly is a exciting time to be a Jays fan, with Ryan signing and possiblly Burnett.
The Jays just have to add one more solid bat, and they should be able to contend with the Sox and the Yankees.

but maybe it is just me, I find it hard to get excited about a 30 year old reliever with a career 3.54 ERA and a career 1.32 WHIP ..
But the effort is there - addressing needs is what its all about. Remember, I said "Playoffs Maybe??" - which basically means that they will be more competitive than last year. What more can you ask for...espcially from a team that was built from the ground up.

In 2006
Ryan will get more saves than Hoffman (or whoever fills in for him after he decides to sign with a better team) and the Jays will win more games than the San Diego team.

Chew on that monkey.

Didn't you lose a similar 'closer' bet to me last year?
And now your back for more?

Nice how you address the closer comment but you are accepting that the Jays will win more games than the Padres.
