Adrian Gonzalez to boston? Youkilis out?

Not a huge trade, but an interesting one.

Boston is reportedly talking to Texas about a deal involving 1B prospect Adrian Gonzalez for Shoppach or Brandon Moss

If this happens it would likely mean Youkilis (or maybe Mike Lowell, though i think that is less likely) would be traded...

I agree with you BigKen. Moss should be a good player down the road. Shoppach will not play here so he should be the guy...

Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt Adrian also unproven as well. As well, didnt Tek only sign a 4 yr deal - perhaps Shoppach can become the backup catcher soon and when Tek's deal is done take over the full-time duties. Im hoping the Sox can trade Clement for a 1B or platoon Youk with Olerud (could sign him as a cheap alternative)

Not to say this deal won't happen, but everything down here (Arlington, Texas) that's been reported has the Rangers wanting major league help this season in return for Adrian. With that said, I doubt this trade happens, but it's not like we haven't heard one thing, then had something totally different happen before........

Brandon Moss is being a bit overrated here. He had a excellent 2004 and established himself as a prospect, but last year was a disappointment, both in Portland and in the hitter-dominated AFL. To receive Adrian Gonzalez (who's but one year older and had a promising year in AAA) for Brandon Moss shouldn't be a hard trade for the Red Sox to make (especially in light of the fact that they have no legitimate 1st base prospects).
