Well, even though the A's offered abritration to Rincon , it looks like he's going to end up with the Cards.
Thank God for that, but that does leave a hole in the pen for a lefty specialist to fill. Should we not sign anybody, I think Kennedy could fill that role well, as he usually struggles against righties anyways, but does well against lefties. A long reliever would be easier to find than a lefty specialist, I'm sure we could bring someone from the farm up even.
I think Bradley is going to be ok. I really think he got alot of bad hype with all the LA Press, and with his reputation, he was really under the microscope there. He reacted badly against fans throwing bottles at him - but i cant blame him. He had a run in with Jeff Kent, but Kent had a run in with Bonds, and I can just imagine the type of guy he is (Kent). There was a time there where everything was going fine with Bradley, especially in the beginning in LA. I think he'll be fine in Oakland, and apparently he just had a kid. I have seen irresponsible men really calm down after becoming fathers.
Anyways
How about this from AN - these are the guys who ARE on the 25 man roster:
Joe Blanton
Kiko Calero
Justin Duchscherer
Rich Harden
Danny Haren
Esteban Loaiza
Kirk Saarloos
Huston Street
Jay Witasick
Barry Zito
Jason Kendall
Adam Melhuse
Eric Chavez
Bobby Crosby
Mark Ellis
Dan Johnson
Antonio Perez
Milton Bradley
Mark Kotsay
Jay Payton
Nick Swisher
21 players
That leaves 4 spots for all of the following (and perhaps more in the running):
Marco Scutaro
Bobby Kielty
Joe Kennedy
Matt Watson
Ron Flores
Chad Gaudin
Charles Thomas
Juan Cruz
Shane Komine
Keep in mind that there is no lefty specialist in there apart from maybe Kennedy. I personally think they should use Ron Flores - he was good while in the bigs, plus had a pretty good year in AAA.
And what if Thomas is signed?
I also heard faint rumblings about Troy Glaus to Oakland as a DH. I only see this happening if D-Backs pick up alot of the cash, in which case the A's would need to pay in players going back. How bout
Jay Payton (owed 6 mil??? save some money there!)
Juan Cruz
Saarloos
Thats a solid package. AZ need a CF, and 1 big league starter and one potential starter. Swap Cruz for Meyer if need be.
Look at that list of guys fighting over 4 spots left on the team....i just cant see them getting sent back to AAA....I think another trade has to be in the works.
I agree with you Ryn, there has to be another trade in the works. Of that list, I don't see us sending down Kennedy since we just resigned him, Scutaro doesn't deserve to be sent down especially after what he's done, but having both him and Perez?, Kielty isn't anything special but I don't see him going down either, Cruz deserves another chance, Thomas probably will be sent down, but he also deserves another chance at a bench spot, we just traded for Guadin so why would we send him down, Flores also deserves a shot, etc. etc.
Amish, from what I've heard, that's the plan unless something changes, i.e. we get or trade someone.
