Wagner, Mets strike deal on four-year, $43M contract
By Ronald Blum, The Associated Press
NEW YORK — Billy Wagner became the latest star to join the New York Mets, reaching a preliminary agreement Monday on a $43 million, four-year contract only hours after first baseman Carlos Delgado was introduced at a Shea Stadium news conference.

I'm not sure how anyone can count out the Braves after what they've been able to do for 14 years but the Mets are going to make a nice run at their title.

I think the Mets are set up to compete hard for the next two years, rebuild for a couple and then go at it again. I don't think it particularly bothers them if Wagner is overpaid during their rebuilding.

I see nothing wrong with the Mets overpaying as long as they are overpaying for the right people. Time will tell but I like the choices they have made so far.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I still wont go to the eye-sore that is shea. When are they getting a new stadium to go along with all this muscle?
Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.
