Cards Ready to Make Offer for J. Jones?

Postby JTWood » Mon Nov 28, 2005 10:01 am

I can't find it in the print media here, but KMOV & KSDK in St. Louis were reporting last night that the Cardinals are about to offer Jacque Jones a 3-year, $20 million deal (for those of you from the area, Steve Savard and Frank Cussamano reported the info).

Seems like too much to me, too. Cussamano's group also reported that Giles was practically out-of-reach for the Cards, and that's why they were making this offer.

As for the ducks, what can I say? I just like 'em.

Sounds like B. Giles is out then. :-C
Not a bad deal for Jones. A little more money than I thought but he is very good defensively. Downside is that he is a very streaky hitter.

Not a bad player, very Shannon Stewart-ish but with a lower average. If he brings his BA up to where it used to be then he can be a serviceable guy at the bottom of the order but something tells me that he is destined to be a .250 hitter.

It seems like there are going to be a lot of overpaid guys because of the lack of FA's this offseason.

Ditto. :-[ Seems like they're shaping up to be a streaky team overall so far. :-o

Jones is a good signing if they don't play him against lefties. He needs to be platooned.

My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.

A platoon player making $6M+ per year.
