WSCR 670 in Chicago is reporting that the Cubs are close to acquiring Juan Pierre from the Marlins for three prospects. One would be left-hander Renyel Pinto. According to the report, center fielder Felix Pie wouldn't be involved. Another expendable reliever probably would be. Roberto Novoa or Jermaine Van Buren could help the Marlins.
This was a hot rumor a few weeks ago and since died down. Apparently it's firing up again. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see Pierre go to the Cubs. The Marlins have sold just about everyone else off, so they might as well continue the fire sale. The Cubs have been desperately seeking a leadoff man/centerfielder and Pierre fits that role. If they get Furcal too, their lineup could be pretty scary. Pierre-Furcal-Lee-Ramirez. Not to shabby...

Sportscenter mentioned the Marlins would trade off anyone who's got a fairly large contract. The list they mentioned included Pierre, LoDuca, and Mota, so if that's really the case, don't be surprised to see a few more trades involving the Marlins before this is all said and done.
Edit: Forgot to mention Castillo too.

Don't forget Barrett who has had 2 nice offensive seasons in a row and is now one of the better offensive catchers.

It's not official yet lol but I would like this move for the cubs... like someone mentioned earlier their lineup could be Pierre, Furcal, Lee, A-Ram... if that happens and the staff stays healthy ( mainly Prior) then I say the cubs are one of the teams to beat next year.
