Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Article says Toronto is trying to trade Batista, maybe to the Rangers. There is another recent thread about Ryan where some Orioles fans were speculating on the replacements.

5 years 47 million for a reliever? Albeit a very good one, but are they out of their minds?

I don't see anything from ESPN or MLB yet but this is a bold move if its confirmed.

I agree with Trash, 5 years 47 million for a closer, and the guy only done it for one year.

Toronto looks like there serious about contending, but they still need SP (Burnett?) and one more bat.

That is a massive amount of money for a guy who has only closed one year in the majors, but I had Toronto pegged for SP and a big bopper bat help this year, not a closer. Oh well my Drays will still finish ahead of them in the AL East this year ;-) ;-D

I think the Daily News breaking a story is confirmation enough for me. They may be a rag but they're not that bad. :-D

Riccardi is betting his future on this guy - if he craps out Riccardi will not be able to live it down.

The only way I see Batista going to the Rangers is if he goes back to being a starter. Odd situation, and I haven't heard any talk of that here in Texas. :-?
