ESPN is reporting that the Phillies are on the verge of sending Thome to the White Sox for Rowand. No mention of money. No link yet (listed as "Breaking News" on the top of http://www.espn.go.com/ ).

Interesting... I wonder what this means regarding Konerko.

personally i don't think it makes much of a difference. thome is the left handed bat we need and will most likely dh unless we do not sign konerko. it may be just a small bargaining chip if anything. we still need to sign konerko and that should be the main concern now.

Seems like a nice enough deal to me. If there was any doubt in anyone's minds that Ryan Howard was the future of the Phillies at 1B, this should get rid of it.

This off-season has already been much more active than all of last year's. I like it!

good deal for the phillies. they get rid of a ton of salary, keep Howard and add a solid CF.
