I am not a Met fan but, anytime you can get a player with over 30 HR 100 RBI and AVG over 300 for prospects, I say great trade. The only negative is Delgado has the right to ask for a trade following his first year which means he maybe another Mike Hampton. They will need Beltran to step it up and play like he is able to and they will be just fine. All around nice move I give the Mets two .

A 34 year old player that didn't want to come to NY originally, for 2 good prospects? I don't know. Delgado's career is on the downward curve and he's over priced.
Delgado hit .301 and 33 HR in a pitchers park last year at age 33. Everyone declines as they get older but there is no denying that Carlos can still rake. He's a fierce bat that immediately gave the Mets a contending offense. If he hits .280 with 30 HR next season it's perfect. He may be overpaid but who cares what the Mets spend. First, it's not my money and second the Mets have the money to spend.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

It is your money if you're a Diehard Met fan and attend games spending $5+ for a hot dog and $8 for a beer. Not to mention the Ticket and $10 to Park your car.

I am a diehard fan who spends way too much money on his Mets but until the Mets wind up with a $200M payroll I am not going to fear any serious price hikes. Anyway, with the signing of Wagner and the trade for Delgado the Mets payroll is still under $100M. The Mets are in great financial shape, exist in the biggest baseball market in the world and have their own TV network starting up. I can't say I am particularly worried.

Any thoughts on Delgado's slump particularily vs. LHP. I noticed teams are putting big shifts on him. He also stuggled last year vs. LHP. Any thoughts on this mini slump despite the power numbers?
Looks like he's starting to hit the ball well so I think he's breaking out of his slump. He definitely has a declining track record vs. LHP and it probably correlates to the frequency of which the shift has been used against him over the years. Until he can consistently go the other way I think he'll continue to struggle against LHP. I realize this is unfathomable as far as old school baseball goes but when facing lefties I wouldn't mind seeing Delgado just start dropping bunts down the third base line. Then Wright can try to do some damage.
