:-?

My projection

14-10 150k 70bb 4.18 ERA

I think you hit the era about right but I believe he will get a few more wins.

You see, I think the Red Sox is bound to collapse with all their old players

Manny, Varitek, Mueller

I really think Red Sox-Yankee won't be all that close next year and Toronto-Baltimore has a good chance of being in front of Boston by the end of the season

huh?
Mueller is a FA and outta there with the Lowell acquisition and Youkilis.
Tek won the Silver Slugger
Manny hit 45 HR with 144 RBI.

I'd say they're alright.

Granted the Sox (and Yanks) are getting old, but it will still be a two horse race for at least the next two years. Baltimore is a mess, they have no system and spend their money poorly. Toronto has some pitching with Roy, Chacin and League, but other than Wells their offense doesn't excite me. Tampa has the system to start making noise someday, but that won't be until Delmon, Upton, and some pitching are used to The Show.

And if Manny is dealt, Damon walks, just who hits around Ortiz? Nixon and Varitek?

And that pitching staff is no great shakes. Schilling is old and still has not proven he can pitch again. Foulke is a disaster. Wells (arguably the Sox best pitcher last season) is likely to be dealt. Clement collapsed in the second half.

I am sure they will bring some people in, but replacing a Manny or Damon will be difficult to say the least.

Replacing Manny will be impossible, no doubt, but they also won't sell him for 50 cents on the dollar. Whatever big league hitter they get will be capable enough. I've heard names like Glaus and Dunn, that's decent protection for Ortiz.
Damon is another story, and I think Dave Roberts will be playing CF for us next season when we get him for Boomer Wells.

Again, I'm not saying they'll be as good as last year, but our pitching will be better with Beckett, the development of Hansen and Paplebon, maybe the emergence of Lester, and hopefully healthy Schilling and Foulke. And that pitching should help offset some of the loss of offense. They finished first in runs, avg, obp, and second in slg, as a team, so it's not like they'll be crippled.

This will be a two team division for the next two seasons at least, the Sox won't fall off.

so you are counting on Lowell? Let's say one of Wells/Manny gets dealt(let's say Wells) and Damon signs with the Yankees.

C Varitek
1B Petagine? Youkilis?
2B Let's say Graffanino re-sign, if not, Alex Cora
3B Lowell
SS Renteria
LF Manny
CF ??? who's their best CF prospect? Who's the best CF in the market after Damon and Giles?
RF Nixon

SP Clement
SP Beckett
SP Arroyo
Next 2 spot are between Schilling(who still didn't prove he's back), Wakefield(he's on, he's off, he's on, he's off, inconsistency), Wade Miller(I thought It was a 1 year contract? :-? ), Jonathan Papelbon(I really, really, really like him)

RP Timlin(old)
RP Chad Bradford?
RP Foulke(just terrible last year)

Are you telling me this is a good Red Sox team compare to 2004(2005)?

C Varitek(Varitek)
1B Millar(Millar/Olerud?)
2B Bellhorn/Pokey(Bellhorn/Graffanino/Cora)
3B Mueller(Mueller)
SS Nomar/Cabrera(Renteria)
LF Manny(Manny)
CF Damon(Damon)
RF Trot(Trot)

SP Schilling(Pedro)
SP Clement(Schilling)
SP Wade Miller/Wake(Lowe)
SP Wells(Wake)
SP Arroyo(Arroyo)

Closer Foulke(Foulke)
RP Timlin(Timlin)
RP Embree(bunch of no-body)

actually I stole it from a website. shhh....I suck at Photoshop.

the Sox aren't done in their offseason. They'll prolly trade Wells to SD for Dave Roberts. There's rumors of a Clement/Overbay swap. They could still spin Lowell for more pitching. I think Youk deserves the chance to play every day. As is, the Sox don't look better than last season, but if (and I admit it's a big if) Schill and Foulke are healthy, then I do think they'll be better. They got pretty much no positive contribution from them last season.

Barring the eating of almost all of the Lowell contract, I would think Lowell is basically waiver material by May. I just do not see him being a productive bat any more. He looks like a Bret Boone-like roid product that fell off as soon as he was forced to get clean.
His numbers completely disappeared over the past 2 years.

I would be very surprosed if the Sox actually relied upon Lowell for 3b for the start of 06.
