Beckett deal for Texas' Blalock near
November 20
Miami Herald: "Josh Beckett never would have won the deciding Game 6 of the 2003 World Series at Yankee Stadium if not for Texas Rangers third baseman Hank Blalock. Now, in an odd twist of fate, those two players might end up swapping jerseys as part of a simmering deal that also would result in the departure of longtime third baseman Mike Lowell from the Marlins."

Game winning home run in the all star game - making it american league home field (Yankee stadium). Pretty terrible parallel if you ask me.

He hit the HR for the AL in the AS game that gave them Home Field advantage for the WS. It's a definite stretch, but the writer is saying that if Blalock wouldn't have hit the HR, they wouldn't have been playing in Yankee stadium that day.

Does anyone honestly think this is some weird twist of fate? I sure as heck don't. What a dumb thing to say.

Coincidence? Or just mere stupidity? O:-)

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

LOL! I was actually sitting there for a few minutes trying to think of a smart a$$ comparison but decided not to!! :-b

i.e. The pitching prospect going over knows Josh Beckett's brother's girlfriend's cousin's therapist, who also played baseball once before.
