Free agent B.J. Ryan recently told a friend he does not want to deal with the "stress" of pitching for the Yankees. He's expected to take a closer's job elsewhere.
We wonder what he'd think about the stress of pitching for the Red Sox? Maybe he'll stay away from that situation, too. If the Yankees can't re-sign Tom Gordon, who may prefer to close elsewhere, they'll probably target Bobby Howry or Kyle Farnsworth as a setup man for Mariano Rivera.
