The Mets tried to trade Mike Cameron in a package for Manny Ramirez in July, and it appears Minaya is now talking with the Padres, a baseball official said last night. Minaya would likely need to include Cameron in any future deals with Boston for Ramirez, but if the Red Sox choose to keep him, the GM will keep shopping Cameron, perhaps for bullpen help from San Diego ... The Mets declined the options on lefthanders Felix Heredia and Kaz Ishii.
Cameron expected to become a Padre
Nov 16 - The Mets and the Padres are on the verge of a deal that would send Mike Cameron to San Diego, baseball officials told ESPN's Buster Olney on Wednesday.
Other parts of the prospective deal are not known at this time, although the Mets are reportedly looking for bullpen help.
The Padres nearly signed Cameron as a free agent after the 2003 season and still have a need for someone to patrol center field at Petco Park. Cameron won Gold Gloves in 2001 and 2003 playing center field for Seattle.
Olney updated it on ESPN 1050 radio a little while ago. According to a "high ranking official" the deal is done and the Mets and Padres are just ironing out details.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
No. A lot of speculation on various Mets sites but Olney nor anyone else real credible has mentioned names other than Cammy.

Wow, drop Cameron's number predictions about 10 HR's.
