Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
That is alot of money, but he was a heckuva pitcher in college. He may very well be worth the money, and I can't wait to see how his stats stack up verse some of the other top pitchers in drafts lately (mainly Verlander). If his numbers end up as good as Verlanders have been so far, then the Mets got them a great young SP, and he will definitely make you forget the name Petit.
Yeah I think the big money was a given or else he probably wouldn't have fell to the Mets.

It was reported in Newsday. He's been throwing off flat ground for a month without problems and should beging normally during ST.

Well, with Boras as your agent, that's pretty much what we could have expected contract wise. His numbers in college are very impressive, but as we all know, that can all change when the big boys step in the box. It's something to get excited about at least, especially since the Mets will be needing some good starters in 2 to 3 years.
Several of the Mets minors sites are reporting that Pelfrey will be moved to Binghamton as soon as the weather there warms up. Pretty much expected but figured it was worth mentioning.

Mets.Scout.com is reporting Pelfrey will move up to AA Bing next week. Anyone have access to that article?
