The author is listed as having 26 years of fantasy baseball experience and a member of SABR. Since Fantasy Baseball started in 1980 I'm guessing he is a liar. Which is disappointing cause I was all ready to send in my $5 to become a member of SABR.
Without doing too much research of my own into the article, my guess is that these are not rankings of fantasy baseball value, but who the top hitters will be. Not homerun hitters, not base stealers, hitters. So yes, BA is going to be highly valued. Shelton probably won't be ranked in the top 30 in any fantasy league at the end of next year, but he may very well be in the top 30 for Avg.
