Their presence is dominant not only in the majors, but also in the minors: Of the 2,741 foreign-born players under minor-league contracts, 1,370 are Dominican.Venezuela is second with 772

The World Series included 13 players from Latin America and nine were from the Dominican Republic.

Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals is Dominican and is baseball's top-rated player.
David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox is Dominican and is baseball's player of the year.
The list rolls onward: Pedro Martinez, Miguel Tejada, Sammy Sosa, Manny Ramirez, American League Cy Young Award winner Bartolo Colon and many others, big names and giant players, Dominicans all.

tainted it is more what he has done. with the steroid allegations, corked bat incident, and post steroid testing faltering he has done nothing short of ruin his reputation as well as taint all the home run records he is involved with.

No proof he's ever taken steroids. The allegations are bogus and unsupported by any tangible evidence.

Corked bat incident was overrated.

sooo agreed ... ;-D ;-D

sad that people have decided that an article on the little island of the Dominican, is a signal to take a shot at Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds and my self ... :-t

Cristobal .. I agree with you. USA is going to get their ass handed to them. At least they should on paper.

Bronx .. I had a guy do that in a league a few years back, He tried drafted nothing but Domincans and would trade for the ones he missed out on. He ended up third overall but it was an interesting run none the less.

Wonder why the pro teams don't have these "Acadamies" here ..
It would be an interesting concept.

Man it's gonna be an amazing tournament. I was thinking of planning a trip to the US just to try and see one of those games. Don't sell the US short....they will have quite a team, probably the best pitching staff.
