boston red sox....i do expect manny to go somewhere even it its .70 on the dollar for a return..look for kshoppach and abe alvarez to go (maybe the rockies)...dwells to SD for some combo of roberts otsuka burroughs makes sense...the many of the sox are free agents and i don't expect any to re-sign w/boston...some rumors regarding barroyo being traded but i don't see it..they need all the arms they can get

Here's a Phillies list....

Guys who are most likely to be dealt

Thome/Howard

The Phils need to alleviate their logjam at first base. Neither of these players can play anywhere else in the field. As a Phils fan I would love to see them get rid of Thome. I heard that the Twins are interested in adding his power bat to their lineup. I wouldn't even ask for much in return. All we need to do is get him out of the way of Howard.

Abreu
Burrell

Both have been discussed during the winter meetings. I would love to see them trade Abreu right now while his value is really high. I wonder if the Red Sox would be interested in a Abreu/Manny-Shoppach deal... :-? I think it works because you get rid of Manny who isn't really happy and has a bigger salary and you get Abreu who will be a productive player for the next couple of years hitting in a lineup with Big Papi. Abreu is also a cheaper alternative to Manny. The Phils win because even though they take on some more salary Manny will mash in Philly's bandbox and they get a catcher in return (so they don't have to play Lieby this year). The sox don't need Shoppach because he's blocked by Varitek anyway.

Guys I would like to deal....

Lieberthal
Bell

I don't think either one of these players are going anywhere. Thank goodness Lieby is finally in the last year of his deal. Lieberthal getting paid 7-8 mill is just ridiculous. Bell gets 4 mil and I think that's on the high side as well for a guy who can field but can't hit at all.

Anyway, that's just a few thoughts on some potential Philly deals.

I'll reiterate by team with TB:
Julio Lugo
Danys Baez
Aubrey Huff

possibly Joey Gathright
possibly Jonny Gomes, although the possibility is small now.
