Why not got AVG and OBP? Or just OBP?

Yeah, this is what I'd go with. Using hits and walks is essentially the same as using OBP, except it sort of counts getting on base double, which is weird.

I wouldn't do it, either, but isn't the point in finding a happy balance?? If you have hitters that take a lot of walks, why have other cats that benefit them further??

That's kind of like counting strikeouts for pitchers, and then counting WHIP--but not counting batters that struck out towards the total WHIP. It's kinda silly.

I don't think anyone actually says BA helps guys that take walks. But counting hits instead of BA hurts guys that take walks, and that's weird.
