I am betting that it is pretty easy to buy your way out trouble in Venezuela. Unless the government, which is quasi-autocratic and very anit-American, decides that it is a good idea to make a political example out of a guy who makes his green in the USA.

I wonder if FOX29 in Philly will be running this story. That's where I work in the sports. dept. I'll definitely make the suggestion if we're light on news.

Didn't his mom get kidnapped earlier this year? If this incident is in any way related to the kidnapping, I can see why he might have problems ignoring it.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

If this incident goes away I like him in 2006. Especially if Waggs go somewhere else to play, here's hoping this is just some case of mistaken identity.

Then again this incident might not go away, and with wagner leaving, the phillies would either turn to Ryan Madsen and have some issues on their hands.

Hey, I don't want to judge the trade until we find out how many people Placido Polanco has killed this off-season.

Stupid language barrier...some MLB team told him they'd sign him if he could "work on his cutter" and improve his fastball so he would really "throw some gas". Apparantly that was mis-translated as "cut your workers and throw some gas on them". Honest mistake.

Figures Urbina couldn't finish the job. If that were Mariano Rivera, those guys would be dead.

My three favorites. :-b
