Cuban buying the Pirates would be great for the team, the city of Pittsburgh and baseball in general. He is outspoken and sometimes out of control... a quality that baseball needs more from its owners when Steinbrenner is seemingly the only owner out there who cares and is willing to drop as much money necessary to do it (and infamously I should add). Cuban could turn the Pirates around, a team whose losing record goes without saying and refuses to pursue high end free agents.

i like the pirates and hope they will do better next year, their pitching should improve. ;-D

I bet Cuban would spend the $$$ to win like he's doing in Dallas. It could be worse though. The Pirates could be owned by a business that is only concerned with the bottom line. Screw you Chicago Tribune. :-°

When I first saw this post, I thought hmmmm...wonder if Selig could actually get his cronies in DC to okay the sale of the Pirates to Fidel Castro...but I would definitely hate to play for the Cuban Revolutionaries!

Actually I think the Pirates are owned by a couple of corporations who are interested in only the bottom line.

And oddly enough, the group that owns the Pirates also owns newspapers. Apparently, that industry is run by stingy bastards.

Cuban is an obnoxious ass, but I agree that he would be the best thing that could happen to a frnachise that has become so moribund.
