I am involved in a dynasty league that will have it's second year minor league draft. I have 9 of my 10 minor leaguers carrying over from last year so I only have to make 1 pick this year.
20 teams w/ 10 minor leaguers each, drafted last year so it went fairly deep. My thoughts are to select a top player from this year's draft instead of taking a flyer on a kid who wasn't even selected last year.
Do you have any info on solid players from last June's draft? I have the 16th pick this year.
These players from the June draft have already been selected:
Jeff Clement, Ryan Zimmerman, Mike Pelfry, Justin Upton, Alex Gordon, Cameron Maybin.
What about somebody like Craig Hansen, picked #26 overall by the Red Sox. He will, at the latest, be their closer in 2007, with an outside chance to close sometime this year. He has a 95+ fastball along with a filthy 90 mph slider that is his out pitch. Kinda daepends on who are your other nine, but he is really a nice pick...a la Huston Street type with better stuff.

Any player that has participated in a major league game is ineligible to be selected in our minor league draft. Therefore, Hanson can't be selected. I do like him, though. Thanks for the input.

So you can't take Zimmerman then.
Stephen Drew, is a nice pick. Brandon Wood might not have been taken last year but would be a great choice (100 extra base hits during the reg. season then hit lite up the AFL). Justin Upton (he will sign before next years draft). Clement. Alex Gordon (a five tool player). Maybe Cameron Maybin.

All those players were drafted last year. I was fortunate enough to pick up Drew so I am happy with his progress.
