Steve Finley and Darin Erstad

Postby Pogotheostrich » Mon Nov 07, 2005 4:45 pm

The Cardinals are among those teams interested in the availability of Los Angeles Angels outfielders Steve Finley and Darin Erstad in addition to the Cincinnati Reds' Austin Kearns and Adam Dunn

God No, I hope that doesn't happen. I don't want Erstad or Finley anywhere near St. Louis. On the other hand Kearns or Dunn can show up anytime they want. :-D

The first two, uhh, not so much. :-o I wouldn't mind seeing a healthy Kearns and inexpensive Dunn in Cardinal red, but I doubt either of those conditions would be met if they were to show up in STL. :-[

Erstad, Finley - No thanks :-C

Kearns - Give him a Morris-esque 2005 contract. Incentive, incentive, incentive.

Dunn - Yes please :-L O:-)

i cant see finley or erstad coming this way unless its a roger cedeno like salary dump situation. i just cant believe walt would think they would make a good regular outfielder and they are making too much money to be anything other than a salary dump.

"I'd be happy with one quality guy in the outfield, then one or two quality pitchers," Jocketty said. "If there's a starter out there, I'd go for that. ... but that would take away from what we have available for the bullpen."

thats an interesting comment. tony has also said his wish includes a starting pitcher as priority number one. makes me wonder whats going on because with carp, mulder, soup, marquis, and reyes the only way we are looking for a starting pitcher is if someone is getting traded.

Don't do that. I didn't read jd's post all the way through and then I saw that and immediately went to ESPN.com, MLB.com, the Cardinals forums, and the PDs website looking to find the details of the deal. :-C I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I'd be surprised if it's even 50/50 that he gets traded, even with those comments from Walt.

Sorry. Didn't mean to get your hopes up. I was just being optimistic.
