Guzman or Weaver?

Postby brandnew » Fri Nov 04, 2005 10:42 pm

Hey guys, I have this deal on the table, I'm wondering if I should take it.

I trade Joel Guzman for Jared Weaver. It's a 20 team real-franchise dynasty league, where you pick a team, keep up to 15 guys, take their salaries, and there's a cap of $90,000,000.

Here's my team, after one pick (I had #4 overall), and a few trades

C.
1B. David Ortiz
2B. Jeff Kent
3B.
SS. Antonio Perez
OF. Carlos Beltran
OF. Austin Kearns
OF. Ryan Freel
Util. Jayson Werth

SP. Brad Penny
SP. Scott Baker
SP. Edwin Jackson
RP. Eric Gagne
RP. Juan Rincon

It's a 6x6 H2H, with OPS and Holds. I have all the good prospects from the Dodgers' farm, I obviously need pitching, should I do this deal? How do you feel about Jared Weaver?

I know I'm losing in value, but I really do need a good young pitcher, and Weaver looks like a very good one, no?

If you have the dodgers you've already got one of the top prospect SP in Billingsley. Plus there are several more in the system. Nothing against Miller but Guzman is supposed to be quite a prospect.

yeah i'd hold off on it too. guzman is one of the top prospects in the game. he's been rather consistent too. miller really fell off big time the past season and is performing poorly in the afl too. i'm going to speculate here, but maybe he's hurt because i know he is flamethrower.

I would look to trade Guzman for a decent hitting prospect in another system. I like Guzman, but he's going to play in LA and possibly a corner outfield spot.

Defiantly keep Guzman, pitchers are always more risky and Miller has already been injured once.

Not a big fan of Weaver at all, should be a nice solid SP ... but IMO nothing special. You'd have to name a top 3 to 5 SP for me to think about not taking Guzman.
