I received a disturbing email from the Commish (who has won both years I've played). I am checking the league rules and hopefully this is prohibited. Do I try to reason with him first or do I involve the entire league? I am leaning towards the former ... or if I am off-the-mark and this is appropriate, let me know. Thanks:
"Bill,
As for my proposed idea, here it is. I've got too many stud
keepers. If you're going to have 7 spots open, this is what I propose. You hold onto one of my extra guys over the winter as your 8th. In return, I either give you my #1 draft pick next year OR I give you a great keeper that you hold onto as your 7th instead of whoever you currently have planned.
Make sense? Essentially, we're using your 8th spot to hold
someone for me and then finding a way to compensate you for it. Probably easiest to use a draft pick, cause then I can swap that player back to you after the draft for my guy."
Personally, I don't think that is right. I'd try to reason with him first, and if that fails notify the league. If you talk to him and he realizes that this is collusion, and he was amiss, then no harm done - move on and keep an eye on him.

I agree with this. He's allowed 7 keepers. If he wants to increase the keepers, the league should vote.

In all seriosuness, I wonder if he done this type of thing before. It might worth it to review his trade history and see if you can't spot a similar deal.
I hate playing in leagues with cheating and back room deals, and I'll do my best to expose it everytime.
Try and reason first but try to avoid outright saying "no". If you reject his offer without talking about it with him at all and asking him what the league would think, he'll probably just move on with the idea to another owner.
