I still don't get it. Busch was just fine, and it was one of the landmarks that people recognized about St. Louis. No reason to build a new stadium.

i've also heard the internal structure was in bad shape. leaking pipes, that sort of thing.

That's the story. Cards were saying it was taking $10 mil a year to maintain the old stadium.

My coworkers' husband is one of the lead foreman for the stadium
project. One of the quoted reasons for Busch going down much
quicker than anticipated is the fact that the infrastructure was
truly weakening. That rather goes along with the maintenance
costs quoted earlier.

I drove by today, and I was awed by the presence of the new
stadium. Respectfully, I have to say that my perception of the
new stadium was overshadowd by good 'ol Busch. With Busch now
gone, the new stadium really stands out... strikingly. I'm optimistic
that the new Busch will be a wonderful stadium.
