Best Horror Movies

Postby WharfRat » Mon Oct 31, 2005 2:54 pm

So what are the best horror flicks you've seen? The ones that truly kept you up at night? Or the ones that you just really, really liked?

The Exorcist - I was raised Catholic, so anything related to Satan/demonic possession has always touched a nerve with me. I was 12-13 when I first saw this, and it scared the BEJESUS out of me. Most horror flicks stop being scary if you've seen them twice, but I've never really gotten over this one. II and III are a different story, though. :-P

28 Days Later - I really like the post-apocalyptic movies like Road Warrior, and I also really like zombie movies, so I really got into this one. It also scared me way more than I thought it would. I guess zombies that can run the 40 in 4.4 are freaky.

Evil Dead Trilogy - Sorry, Indiana Jones. Move over, Luke Skywalker. Ash is the ultimate hero.

1. Halloween - Mike Myers is pure evil.
2. Poltergeist
3. Child's Play

btw - Since you listed the ED trilogy, I have to say I really like Army of Darkness but I consider it more of a comedy than horror movie.

Shop smart... shop, S-Mart.

Anyway guys, did anyone catch the remake of Dawn of the Dead? I thought it was GREAT! Personally I like zombie movies, so 28 Days Later is way up there for me as well. That is, "smart" zombie movies... Resident Evil made me want to vomit... then get drunk and vomit again.

Actually, all of George A. Romero's films are awesome... I haven't seen Land of the Dead yet, anyone catch it?

Exorcist - THE horror movie
Candyman - mirrors those damn mirrors
Omen
Poltergeist - hate clowns forever
Nightmare on Elm Street

Friday 13th, Amityville Horror, and Halloween were scary also but above came to mind right away.
