I am moving very soon and will need to set up a wireless router at my apartment. I will have cable high-speed internet service but, because of where my cable connection is, I will be setting up a wireless router. Anything that I should know?? I'm pretty clueless with that. I have a desktop PC. Based on mky limited research, I was thinking that I will get a Linksys Wireless-G router and the applicable wireless network card. Is that it?? What about PCI vs. USB for hooking up the wireless adaptor??

pci and usb are about the same. what i do recommend is that when you set it just make sure that you encrypt it. it's just another layer of protection for your benefit.

I have a Linksys WRT54G and have had it for abotu 6 months. I have not had a single issue with it. It is set up through a VPN as well so the security is really strong.

Does anyone know if there is a significant difference between the Linksys WRT54G or the WRT54GS?? Looks like I will go with the WRT54G and either of these cards:

Is there a performance difference between the PCI and the USB?? It seems like the USB will be easier to connect but I am looking for the best performance.

Go with the PCI. They have more range in every computer I've seen them used on as opposed to the USB versions. If you do not need to it to be mobile, then PCI is definitely the best way to go. Plus, then you don't have yet another cord coming out of your computer.

From my experience (albeit limited) that is all I really worried about and my connection is nothing short of fantastic.
