That would be sexy :-D

His value spikes if he leaves SD. I don't know why the article listed Oakland as a possibility, if he was a righty he'd be the perfect fit, but I don't see management paying a lot for a piece that isn't exactly what they're looking for.

How about the Cubs? The Sosa $$ comes off the books, and he'd be pretty good over the prospect of having Burnitz back again.

It is possible they declined Burnitz's option today. I would think Furcal or Damon would be more of a priority though.

If Jones and Furcal leave, it makes even more sense.

i'd be very surprised if he came to atlanta, if only becuase they've got 3 (count 'em: francoeur, langerhans, kelly johnson) respectable OF prospects that came up last year. there's just no need for atlanta to go after him.

i think the cards will get him, but the cubbies *should* (but probably won't given their management....) go after him hard. a high OBP guy woudl flourish in their lineup. just imagine derek lee's year if there was brian giles hitting behind or in front of him instead of burnitz clogging up the lineup. >_<

Well if they got Furcal, that would make not getting Damon OK since Furcal can hit leadoff.

Nomar said he would play left to stay with the team, and stick Murton in CF. Then you could have a lineup that looks like this:

Furcal
Murton
Lee
Ramirez
Giles
Garciaparra
Cedeno (or whoever the 2b is)
Barrett

That looks pretty good. The bullpen is another issue though...

Corey is done huh?

as for Brain Giles I would love for him to stay, but push comes to shove, I would rather see that money go to Ramon Hernandez and Trevor Hoffman.
