I was just reading about this...
I have an unusual interest in corporate logos.
So, Sprint snatched up Nextel and now they're Sprint Nextel...
As you can see, they're currently using three logos... but I think that the top one will prevail and the "Nextel" will get phased out over time. I like the black on yellow thing, very eye-catching.
Next big one... Verizon nabs MCI.
I think that the MCI is going to be dumped, although it hasn't been officially announced yet. I wouldn't expect any changes from Verizon otherwise... I just hope they quit with the "can you hear me now" commercials. Ugh!
Now, we have SBC buying out AT&T. This is particularly interesting becaust AT&T was the original big-daddy of telecom, the "Ma Bell" if you will. SBC was once Southwestern Bell, one of the "Baby Bells" that was created after the antitrust case in '84.
What's cool is that even though SBC bought AT&T, they're going to keep the AT&T name, understandably... not everyone even know who SBC is and the AT&T name is universally recognizable.
So, here's the fun part... they're going to design a new logo for AT&T! I'm so bored with that ball of blue lines... I can't wait to see what they come up with.
I'm a dork. And a big piece of poop.
If you're a battery, you're either working or you're dead....
