You really don't know much about Steinbrenner, do you?
I do know that Steinbrenner is a multi-billionaire, and you don't get to that status by giving away multi-millions to people you don't need.
Have you watched the Yankees over the past 5 years? They've given multi-millions to people they don't need on mulitple occasions.
Yes, exactly. Cashman has given multi-milliions to players they don't need.

I find the Cashman defenders most amusing. Going to great pains to vindicate his ineptitude. The bottom line is Cashman is paid to get the job done....period. He is not an arm chair GM like me or anyone else. He is paid millions for performance and whether you personally like or do not like a given move at he time is not relevant. He is paid millions to be right, not you and he is the one who needs to be held accountable. If you screw up at a job you take the consequrences for it...unless you are Clueless Brian. Then you get people defending you and blaming TB personnel, George, the alignment of the stars etc. Everyone but the guy who's job description makes him DIRECTLY responsible for player personnel.
Most entertaining is the argumrnt he had no part in the bad decisions and is just a figurehead....so then why hire a GM at all if TB stooges and George make all the moves? Like someone noted, he either gets all the credit and blame or none of it. Since 2002, his moves are PATHETHIC. And most people who string 3 or 4 inept and incompetent years together on the job find themselves filling out job applications. Except for Clueless Brian...he gets a pay raise and another 3 years to see if he can go out and acquire Milton or whatever other loser he can scrounge up for the staff.

You know nothing about how the Yankees are run.
