If anyone read the ESPN article, Swoopes states "The WNBA isn't full of lesbians. There are as many straight players as gay."
Well, since estimates of the homosexual population is between 7-10%, and if its split 50-50 between gays and straights, I would say it has an abnormal amount of lesbian players
Just becuase I like to mix headlines up... and even though I already said this in another post.... I like to think i'm more clever than I actually am and I feed that with self-gratuitous uber postings...
Does this make Sheryl Swoops the "Rosa Parks" of gay athletes???
If you're a battery, you're either working or you're dead....

Never heard of Billy Jean King?
Yeah, i actually thought of that... there are a number of "out" lesbians in both Tennis and the LPGA...
The article I read on ESPN though didn't mention any of them. I suppose that if it's not a "team" sport, you're not an athlete.
Then, of course, there's Billy Bean. I guess it was him coming out that sparked the whole Piazza Is Gay debacle.
Oh well, so what, they're gay.
Not that there's anything wrong with that....

Being an openly gay woman is much easier for the public to accept than a openly gay man in sports. That's why no-one cares about this. Could you imagine if someone like Derek Jeter or Tom Brady came out? Im not implying that they're gay (or am i? ), but there would be a total media circus around that, not just a little coverage on Quite Frankly that Swoopes has gotten.
