Drafted him as a possible starter in the Atlanta rotation perhaps by mid-summer. realistic? too optimistic?

I think it might be a little optimistic. You never know though, if the Braves have a lot of injuries to their starting staff like they did last year then he could definitely be up. I think he looks like a great prospect, good K/IP, K/BB and WHIP for the last couple of years. He's also gotten better as he's moved up the ladder.

Yeah.. he's dominated at every level he's been at, great peripherals. He doesn't have dominating stuff... works the corners, knows how to pitch, fastball that tops out at 90, sick change, hitters just can't hit him. (his opponent batting average is something ridiculous)

It's really up in the air at this point as to who's going to be in the rotation next year, depending on who's acquired, let go, and is injured.

You can say the same thing about Petit. He's dominated every place he's been without dominating stuff. But then again I don't think Zach Duke overpowers hitters but he did fine as well.

You'll probably see Anthony Lerew get a shot in the rotation before James IMO

In this context how would people rate

1. Anthony Lerew
2. Kyle Davies

I dunno about Lerew, he's been kind of old for the competition he has been facing and his stuff isn't all that great. I know Petit gets the same rap but his K/IP and his K/BB show tremendous upside. He must have impeccible control to K as much as he does and walk so few batters.

As for Lerew his numbers at Triple-A were solid but seem more like 4-5 starter than anything.

As for Davies, he's younger and proved himself in the majors for a bit but I'm concerned about his walk rates. The fact that he is 21 and the Braves brought him up instead of Lerew I think gives an indication of what the Braves think of the two

You mean I don't know about James? If so, I echo those sentiments. He's something like 23/24 at AA.

James also broke his wrists before draft night, (don't have sympathy, it was a drunk dive off his roof into his pool, missing the pool) and missed a whole year. He was then drafted in later rounds the next year by the Braves... he may be a little old, but he's gone through some stuff...

LeRew has sick stuff, though. 96-97 MPH fastball with a nasty slider.
