Christian Guzman

Does anyone think that he could put up respectable numbers? I know last year was a disaster, but is it possible for him to put up a season more like 2004?

Sure Nomar has been banged up but based how he looked once he came back from injury I could not contemplate taking Renteria or Crosby ahead of him, keeper league or otherwise.

Looks pretty good. I might move Lopez up to the 3rd Tier and probably rank Eckstein a little higher. Don't think Ellis has SS eligibility in 2006 and Nomar may not either - fo him it will probably depend upon the # of games req'd to get eligibility in 2006.

Guzman's 2004 is probably best treated as a "one-off" event.

My top 10 rankings are (we use ops rather than BA and include Ks):

Young
Tejada
Jeter
Lopez
Rollins
Peralta
Furcal
Lugo
Eckstein
Reyes

Anyone concerned with Tejadas splits? :-?

1st half:

333-ab's 53-19-60-4

2nd half:

321-ab's 36-7-38-1 .2835

Do I smell roids? }:-)

There's cause to be concerned - the O's might have had a somewhat better record if his performance had been maintained. Having said that, his 1st half was probably too good so a regression in the 2nd half could have been expected. I think he's reaching the stage where he needs an off-day every now and then - the iron-man routine is over-rated except by the purists.

But take his average - that should give a reasonable approximation for 06.

I'm not sure about roids with Tejada but I would tend to reject that notion. I think the guy actually needs to take a day off every now and then. I also believe that when his team went into the dumps and Palmeiro implicated him that Tejada, who is usually very steady, couldn't get past all of the negativity. I think that he is a good bet for a rebound next year.

As a side note I think that the SS list looks pretty good.

The other guy I would be highly circumspect about is Lugo. No one liked to run like Pinella, and chances are that the new manager will not turn him loose nearly as often. Something like his previous norm of 15-20 SBs is far more likely than a repeat of 39. Take away 20+ SBs and this really sinks his value toward the fantasy bench.
