Gee, this is news to who? The Mets have said they aren't against bringing him back, but it would only be part-time. Presumably, he'd be the back-up catcher and first baseman and probably the primary pinch hit option. I have to think several AL teams would be interested in him as DH and back-up catcher. If he didn't have to catch all the time, I would think he might still have two or three years of solid hitting left in him. There's an article on ESPN.....
What say you, Cafe members?

Unless he signs with a weak AL team, I can't see him hitting enough to be a DH.

Me to, i think that he only has a few years left, probably more like 2 imo. So getting a full time job as a DH in the AL only seems possible if he signs with a weak one.

I'd be interested to see him in Colorado but I think there's a better chance of him ending up in the AL. As far as teaching the young guys in Colorado has he been someone to help guys out during his career? It might be hard to judge this but I'm just curious if he's shown the willingness to help others in the past. I think a team is in trouble if they sign him for 8-10 mil (which is probably what he's asking). If you can get him to DH for you for 4-6 (maybe he'll do it if he's looking for a ring) then I would say it's worth it.
