I wouldn't call their defense a downfall, it's their weakness, but not a downfall.
I would also be scarred if I was a USC opponent because there defense will get better the rest of the year. USC is very very very thin at DB right now with 4 of their top 6 CB out. 2 freshmen came in against Washington and looked really good along with Pinkard who moved over from Safety. I know it's Washington, but CB is a position that is about instincts.
As to being number 1 or whatever, I truly don't care. As long as they are number 2 I am cool. With that said USC will be number 1 soon based on who they have left. Cal, UCLA, Fresno State and Oregon State. Nobody other than UCLA and maybe Fresno are top 25 at the moment, but they are all higher ranked than the Big 12 crap teams.
