Baseball Primer's ZiPS projections starting to show up

Dan Szymborski has started to post his projections. He does it one team at a time until he has them all done, and then posts the full set.

If you look at them, you should understand that Dan does NOT try to forecast playing time. So, his projections are more accurate for rate stats than for counting stats. They do give you a good sense of what players might do, if they get playing time.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Baseball Variation of Harvard Law: Under the most rigorously observed conditions of skill, age, environment, statistical rules and other variables, a ballplayer will perform as he damn well pleases.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.
