I don't put a lot of credence in Bob Nightengale, and despite what others have said here, this trade is bad for the RED SOX, ESPECIALLY from a financial standpoint. Manny's contract has only 3 years remaining at $19M/year. Beltran checks in at 6 years at $18M/year. Despite their difference in age, Beltran's contract certainly seems the riskier/less desireable of the two, and it really shouldn't be that close.

Lol, that's a great sig.
Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I don't really like it, unless Beltran doesn't revert back to his old form. I think he's way too good to struggle again next year though. Manny is a better hitter bar none, but Beltran would give the Red Sox a young, switch-hitting centerfielder who plays top defense. The Sox save money as well.
The ESPN article doesn't say its on the table at all now. This "trade" was back at the deadline and the Mets declined it and rightfully so for their best interests.
I don't understand why people are talking about it as if it could happen. The Mets aren't this stupid.
One more thing....can we stop with these asinine nicknames? M-Ram? ManRam? It's just Manny.
I hope the Mets don't do this... Beltran isn't half the hitter Manny is, never has been, and never will be... Manny's bad D doesn't make up for the offensive difference. If the Mets get Manny... that lineup scares the crap out of me.
