Mel Stottlemyre only made 400k last year. And thats with the NYY who overpay everybody. So it's not as low as it sounds. This whole thing can't be about $$. No way the Braves or the players let Mazzone go because of a couple grand difference. Smoltz and Huddy could easily give him 75k each and he'd match Mel's old salary. You have to think his moving isn't because of money as much as having the chance to play with a best friend and the fact that a change in scenery might be something he wants after all these years. I hate to see him go. We may not know why he wants to move but I'm certain money isn't one of the reasons why.

For those thinking this will de-rail the Braves, well think again.

Leo is a master at reviver, he can turn a career journeyman into a legend. But the Braves are changing. Youth is the word of the day, and Leo has never been able to get to grips with the kids in the way we would have hoped. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but perhaps it's time the Braves had a change of direction.

As always, we will cope, we always do. Write us off AGAIN if you like, I'm past caring......

Baltimore? :-/

This will only make it tougher for the Jays to do well next season and beyond...

All I have to say is YIPPEE!

I just hope Leo can endure Peter A.'s nonsense.

It would be interesting to see what Mazzone could do with Burnett.
