I'm not too familiar with the Royals but I have my doubts about them landing Millwood. What about Weaver?

Off-season wishlist: Esteban Loaiza or Paul Byrd(Millwood won't come to KC, I'm not even gonna dream that. Lima is probably done), Erubiel Durazo(we need another bat next to Sweeney, Stairs is not the answer), Jacques Jones, Byung-Hyun Kim(he'll be cheap and who's the Royals' 2nd best RH RP? Burgos? Throw him into the closer mix. This move is highly unlikely)

Maybe take a chance on a SP that will come cheap and has great stuff: Brett Tomko. He's a bit old but I watched him last summer in SF and he's got a great fastball and a more than serviceable slider. Great, great stuff. He just need more control on his curve and fastball. I would only want him if he comes cheap enough, he was the Giants' best pitcher the last month of the regular season(10-3 after the DL stint for the Giants). But he is what? 33? Maybe a 1 year contract like Lima.

According to the Kansas City Star, the Royals, Rockies and Mariners are interested in Matt Morris.

I think you can toss out the Rockies right now. And Morris is only coming back to the Cards if the price is right.

Come to think of it, Tomko is not a great idea since Royals' SP is crowded and Durazo is a bad idea too(Harvey, Pickering).

I've heard Elarton's name being tossed around also as part of the Rotation.

Tomko doesn't make sense. I think he had him last year - his name was Ryan Jensen. Seriously though, if you're asking a guy to find better control of his stuff at 33, that spells doom.

Realistically, we're looking at 2-3 legitimate signings at most, plus a couple 6 yr FAs sprinkled in. My initial wish list (love to hear other thoughts):

2b - Grudzielanek. Yeah, he's 35, but he seems easily the best of the bunch. Bret Boone is too risky, and Hudson just doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. If we traded, Andy Green (AZ) or Soriano are great targets. Unfortunately, Soriano is a pipe dream, although I'd be willing to ship Greinke to TX for him.

OF - R White, R Sanders, P Wilson...in that order. The pickings are slim, and we don't have Matsui/Damon money. I'd only take Wilson at a bargain price too, and that may not happen with the market so thin. He has no knees and hits .260, but I wouldn't mind putting his 25 jacks and 85 steaks into this lineup.

SP - Byrd makes sense, and Elarton is intriguing. Other than that, we'll have to go the trade route IMO. Luckily, I think Loaiza will go beyond our price range. He'll be overpaid based on the one good year he had that probably won't happen again.
