This draft will be for a keeper league with 12 teams. I tried to come up with a list of all the 3rd basemen that might be worth drafting.... I know my list is very far from great, but you have to start somewhere right?
3B Ranks(Didn't include Figgins, Cantú or F. López will consider them 2B)..Huff, Uribe has lost eligiblity.
Á. Rodríguez (NYY - 3B) Mi. Cabrera (Fla - 3B,LF,RF) A. Ramírez (ChC - 3B) D. Wright (NYM - 3B) E. Chávez (Oak - 3B) S. Rolen (StL - 3B) C. Jones (Atl - 3B) M. Mora (Bal - 3B) H. Blalock (Tex - 3B) M. Ensberg (Hou - 3B)
T. Glaus (Ari - 3B) N. Garciaparra (ChC - 3B,SS) - Do people not believe in him next year?
J. Crede (CWS - 3B) A. Béltre (Sea - 3B) D. McPherson (LAA - 3B)
C. Tracy (Ari - 1B,3B,RF) S. Hillenbrand (Tor - 1B,3B) B. Inge (Det - C,3B,LF,CF) G. Atkins (Col - 3B) P. Feliz (SF - 1B,3B,SS,LF) C. Blake (Cle - 3B,RF) C. Koskie (Tor - 3B)
These guys might be worth a late round pick, right? it is a keeper league... E. Encarnación (Cin - 3B) B. Upton (TB - 3B,SS) R. Zimmerman (Was - 3B) K. Youkilis (Bos - 1B,3B)
Again, at first glance...
I rank Wright ahead of A-Ram, because I don't trust Ramirez, and Wright contributes to more categories and should watch his numbers take another ride North in 2006.
I like Beltre over Crede. The Cafe seems to think he's a bum who either had a once in a lifetime year or played for his contract (at the age of 24, no less). He's still very young, now has a year of AL parks and pitching under his belt, and I think will be much better in the future than he was in '05.
In Keeper, I like Encarnacion, Youkilis, and Upton more than basically everyone you have ranked under Beltre.
Not a believer in Nomar. No matter what team he ends up on, he'll have to prove to me he can stay off the DL before I show any faith in him. He's down considerably in my 3B Rankings.
I like what you have for the most part but I would change just a few things.
1. ARod
2. Cabrera
3. Wright (I like him over ARam because I think that he will hit for a better average and more steals while taking a slight hit in HR because of Shea)
4. ARam
5. Chavez
6. Chipper
7. Ensberg (I think that he can maintain those numbers for a couple of years in that ballpark.)
8. Rolen (maybe alittle low but I don't like his injury history)
9. Mora
10. Blalock

I hope this is helpful.
i like this list the best here. I feel that wright will put up better better numbers than ARam, especially since Minaya will probably get him protection in the lineup and Wright will know the pitchers better this year. The bottom three can be thrown around in any order, but id have to move blalock and mora ahead of Rolen. Maybe im alone but im not crazy about Rolen (even tho i drafted him in most of my leagues this year ).
I am far from a Beltre believer, but I would take him over Crede. Crede is a career .255 hitter. Sure he has some power, but the best case is he tags 30 HRs (which by the way he has never actually done). Meanwhile he kills you in average and has poor R and RBI numbers because he hits so far down the order.
In total value terms, Beltre's downside, i.e. last year, is in the same ballpark as Crede's upside. Meanwhile Beltre always has the potential to perform somewhere more towards 2004 (I personally do not see him ever repeating 04, but something in between 04 and 05 is still a heck of a lot better then Joe Crede).
I think the ranks look good, but maybe add a tier in there?
Arod
Cabrera
Wright
Possibly Aram
Than the group of Chavez, Chipper, Ensberg, Rolen, Mora, Blalock, Beltre. Just seems like that first group separates itself a little from these guys, and that this group puts up relatively similar numbers. So try and grab the top 4, than wait around and take one of these 7.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

Crede is a guy I would watch carefully. He may be a late bloomer who takes his post season success and translates it (finally) into regular season stats.
If ARam is healthy for a full season, there is no reason why he cannot post #'s to the tune of .310-315/35-40HR's/115-120RBI's/100 runs. I do not think that Wright sniffs those right now. As such, I would rank him below ARam. Actually, a healthy Chipper will probably outproduce Wright as well in all but steals.
