Bay congratulates Padres

Postby Mookie4ever » Mon Oct 17, 2005 12:49 pm

Associated Press wrote:2005 All Star Game hero Jason Bay took time off from his golf schedule to heap praise on NL West Champs San Diego Padres.

"Good for them" said Bay from his British Columbia home "just making it to the post-season and being allowed to play with those good teams should be reward enough. It's too bad that the other team had good pitching and hitting and stuff. The Padres couldn't really be expected to compete with that. But this is a moment that they can cherish for years and tell their grandkids about."

Asked for his opinion about what turned out to be the difference in the series Bay stated that "their manager had a foolproof plan for avoiding the Padres best player Hoffman. Just don't let them get a lead and the closer doesn't really factor into the game does he?"

Asked about what the future holds in store for him Bay responded that he hopes to be invited to another All Star game so that he can build on his HR derby numbers and has confided that he has given his agent instructions to do whatever it takes to get him traded to the NL West.

You'd need to be in on the running Jason Bay/HR Derby joke to appreciate this fully. :-D

Its too bad the other teams were good. ;-7 :-b

Its also too bad one of the good teams in the East didn't get to go, while having a chance of competing.

Yeah, it is too bad that Selig didn't change the rules in the middle of the season...that would have been the right thing to do. ;-7
