"Last Night of the Yankees dynasty" ??
I sure hope you didn't pay too much for the book.
I am curious as to how they filled up the rest of the pages though..

DIAMONDBACKS 9TH:
Grace singled to center; DELLUCCI RAN FOR GRACE;
On a bunt Miller reached on an error by Rivera [Dellucci to second];
BELL BATTED FOR JOHNSON; On a bunt Bell forced Dellucci (pitcher to third) [Miller to second]; CUMMINGS RAN FOR MILLER;
Womack doubled to right [Cummings scored (unearned), Bell to third];
Counsell was hit by a pitch; (Rivera)
Gonzalez singled to center [Bell scored, Womack to third, Counsell to second];

Arizona wins Series 4 games to 3; 2 R, 3 H, 1 E, 3 LOB.

I wish MY favorite team were in the hole the Yankees are in.

Of course, I haven't read the book, so I won't make the Joe Morgan mistake of blindly bashing it. But from the description, it sounds like another sportswriter overreacting to the Yankees not winning the World Series every single year.

Is that accurate?

No.

Thanks WharfRat, you're so helpful. What WOULD be a more accurate description of it?

I'm just having trouble getting past the wholly inaccurate title...

The one BronxBombers51 gave a few posts up.

It's essentially a profile of the Yankees' recent dynasty (1996-'01). And the epilogue deals with events beyond that time period, which have fundamentally changed the team post-2001. So yeah, it's a rather accurate title. I think you're pulling a Joe Morgan by assuming it is, in fact, inaccurate.... :-?
