Was this just a down year for Aubrey? He is only 28 right now. I have read about doom sayers pertaining to him, and i find it a bit premature myself.

He does need out of Tampa but I think he will bounce back ok. He had a pretty bad year but still managed 22HR and 92RBI.

I'll look for .290 28-30hr 95-100rbi which doesn't look nearly as good at 1B/OF since he doesn't have 3B eligibility this next year.

Excellent point about his eligibility. Questions about Huff's value almost become moot if you can't plug him in at 3rd base. Even when he's producing he's not anything special at 1rst or OF. With the question marks, it's probably a good idea to steer clear in March.

His 1B, 3b, OF, eligibility was the only thing I enjoyed about him this year.. except of course the occasional homer and the fact I traded him for Hunter right before he got injured and was out for the season..

Huff in Tampa: repeat of this year's numbers
Huff out of Tampa: 2003/04 numbers plus 10%

It's anyone's guess where he'll play next year
Bold Predictions:

Grady Sizemore will have more value than Jason Bay regardless of draft position

Aramis Ramirez in 155 G will hit over .300 40 HR 110 RBIs

Brian McCann will have more value than Jorge Posada regardless of draft position

Huff could go back to producing numbers before last year, and possibly make last year a trend. What I don't like about Huff is he has a long swing, as he ages it will be harder for him to keep producing based on that alone. Once his bat speed drops he will have to make up for it in others ways that won't be good for his hitting.

I'm not saying he will go in the tanker, but IMO if he can't adjust to his swing getting slower his numbers could drop to just AVG in the future.

Also just cause Huff in on the Rays doesn't mean he will have a repeat of last year. How do you explain the numbers Cantu put up? The Rays are a fairly good hitting team that put up runs. Huff was unhappy last year which also didn't help his numbers, but with change in the management he will feel better in the future .... depending on if he is still here or not.

Why would Huff's numbers drastically increase if he got out of Tampa?

(I'm not doubting, just wondering)

you do know that tampa as a team scored the 12th most runs in baseball this year,,, so that means if he left tampa, then he would more than likely go to a lesser offensive team... :-? :-? and tampa had the 3rd highest team BA in 2005 behind only the red sox and yanks.....so i cant really see why he would benefit from leaving tampa except for personal reasons....

If he's happy about the new management and stays in Tampa, I think he'll preform closer to '04 than to '05. I think he's a good sleeper next year myself.
