Who do you guys think will be underrated in '06?

I kind of like Rolen. He probably won't produce numbers like '04, but I think he's a solid bet for 28/110/.300/.900+ OPS if he's healthy.

I hope you know Rolen has only had 1 season where he's put up all those numbers. And that was his career year in '04. As a 31 year old and coming off surgery I'll likely be staying away from Rolen this year.

I'm not quite sure who's going to be underrated next year as I haven't done my rankings and haven't seen a lot of others. Just guessing though I'd say someone like Chone Figgins who I could probably get in the 4th round but he put up top 15 hitter numbers. Michael Young will probably be able to be had later than he should as well.

Have fun with Rolen. If he's your horse at such a deep position, you're going to have a rough year.

John Lackey convinced me tonight that if he gets drafted before I planned to take him I will overpay after the draft to acquire him.

The guy was just working the inside part of the plate all night long, and what a breaking ball.

Yikes. Filthy :-o

P.S. I just pooped because there's 2 outs in the 9th and Guerrero is coming up against Mo :-o

I was trying to see what you guys thought of Rolen... apparently not very high ;-D

Lackey's got great K numbers, a nice ERA, but that WHIP is just terrible.. :-t

Lackey, Heilman, Aramis Ramirez, Bernie Castro (if plays full season will put up .300 100 5 50 40 at a thin position)
Bold Predictions:

Grady Sizemore will have more value than Jason Bay regardless of draft position

Aramis Ramirez in 155 G will hit over .300 40 HR 110 RBIs

Brian McCann will have more value than Jorge Posada regardless of draft position

I think I recently read that Castro got outrighted to AAA, meaning he was taken off the 40-man roster, this also gives him the option to go into free agency... does that sound weird to anyone else?

Latest News Oct. 7, 2005 - 4:21 pm et

Orioles sent second baseman Bernie Castro outright to Triple-A Ottawa.
Castro's .288/.360/.350 line in 80 at-bats wasn't enough to keep him on the Orioles' 40-man roster over the winter. The club will likely attempt to re-sign him, but he should be a popular minor league free agent.

Personally, I think Rolen is a great risk/reward guy if he drops to the 5th or 6th round.

Some other names...

Berkman - watered down stats might scare off owners, but he's back
Lugo - 40 steals and .300 average overlooked b/c R/HR/RBI totals not too sexy
Edmonds - hard to believe '05 .263 BA isn't a fluke
Holliday - more of a breakout pick, but even a marginal improvement would make for impressive numbers
Sheets - Brew crew should be a force next year, and assuming good health, could reach 18 wins

Watch out next year for Matt Cain of SF nad Brendan McCarthy of CWS. King Felix captivated everyone with his performance this year (rightfully so), but I'm not sure these two didn't fly under the radar. Both have the ability to contribute significantly next year.

I'd say:

Huff
Beltre
Bonderman (started off great)
Sheets
Rolen

What about Nomar? I was impressed by his performance post-injury. Does he have it in him to get back to prior years' production? His history and age make me question whether he can. But he might be a good 10th round (maybe??) selection. Eligible next year for both SS and 3B.
