Long time no see. That's what happens when life catches up with you I suppose. Anyway, I searched (albeit, lazily) to see if something like this was going 'round already and I didn't catch anything. I'm sure if it's there somebody will just link me to the thread anyway... but I digress.
Every year players are hyped up in months heading into drafts and are selected several picks, or even rounds, ahead of their realistic probable performances. A notable from the recent start of the football season would be JJ Arrington, who was taken as early as Round 4 in some FFL drafts only to be promptly benched. So, who do you think goes way early next year, and ends up burning owners? Derek Lee? Halladay? Clint Barmes? I'm interested to have a very pro-active discussion on this topic, so we don't all end up said owners who got burnt.
Well, Derrek Lee obviously will go too high next year, sure. But I think that this is a discussion that is best saved until after the World Series. People most often overrate the people they saw in the playoffs/World Series.
Andruw... I think his power numbers will be there again, but he has a low average, OBP, so he doesn't score a lot of Runs. In a 5x5, he only contributes dominantly in 2 categories, and hurts you in one.
Garland .. Biggio .. Todd Jones .. Turnbow .. A Small .. D. Lee ..
there are tons more ..
How is Biggio over-rated? I never hear anyone talking about him, much less gushing about how they're going to jump on him early. If anything, I think he's under-rated.

I think he probably was underrated going into this season sure, and I also think he will be very high on 2B draft sheets next season, when he shoudln't be. No way he repeats this years performance.
Don't get me wrong I love the old man, always have. I just dont see him putting up anything close to this years power number in '06
Anybody that had a huge breakout year out of nowhere, and didn't show any signs of it happening in the years before and aren't 19 year olds by the name of Felix Hernandez.
I would say those are the types of players that would be overrated. A. Jones, Lee, Turnbow, B. Roberts(I think he'll go pretty high just because of his 1st half, I'm pretty sure he'll just have another average year like he was before 04's first half.) would be good examples of overrated players for next year.
Turnbow? I think people are going to be overlooking him, and I'll gladly take him in the 10th-11th... he's got sick stuff, a very good young team, and great numbers to back it up.
